• Senior Analyst, Supply Chain (Inventory Planning)-Spyder

  • Specific Responsibilities


    This position is a critical support role for the Operations team.  The Inventory Planner will report directly to the Director Supply Chain Strategy & Planning and oversee on-time delivery of finished goods to our distribution centers.

    For the upcoming Fall 2019 season, the Inventory Planner should focus on implementing an efficient process for issuing, tracking and providing visibility to inbound purchase orders to the distribution centers.


    • Purchase Order Management
      • Create and issue sample and bulk purchase orders for finished goods to each factory.
      • Manage end-to-end process for placement of purchase orders to receipt of goods into DC for all factories.
      • Facilitate communication between Li & Fung Sourcing, factories, and the Sales and Operations teams.
      • Create buy summaries for management approval
      • Manage PO xfty dates (factory requests to move dates up or out) to ensure on-time delivery.
      • Obtain air quotes as needed and manage the air freight approval process internally
    • Supply Planning
      • Work closely with the Sales team to establish an open-to-buy budget at cost for each season, and provide periodic tracking against budget.
      • Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to provide visibility to each stage of the inbound supply chain from Ex-Factory to receipt of goods.
      • Create and maintain transit time tables from each port of origin to each destination port, in US, Europe, and potentially Canada
      • Post-season analyze actual transit times vs plan to ensure most accurate lead times are utilized in next season calendar
      • Work with GBG inbound team to identify opportunities for cost savings or lead time reductions
      • Communicate any supply chain disruptions to organization (i.e. delays at port of origin, port strikes, etc). Leverage GBG to assist where needed.
      • Analyze freight charges to determine most accurate method to estimate freight in landed cost rules (LCR)
      • Provide visibility to management team on the inbound status of key programs/deliveries (SMS, Rainbow set, USST, SMUs, etc)
    • Inventory Management
      • Review supply and demand needs with Sales and Operations teams, and provide recommendations to mitigate delivery exceptions.
      • Report, track and validate airfreight expenditures against budget.
      • Alert relevant teams to delivery exceptions at each stage of the inbound process from factory to receipt at the distribution center.
    • Data Governance
      • Work closely with the Product team to establish an efficient process for setting up SKUs emphasizing accuracy of information before purchase orders are placed.
      • Maintain exception reporting to alert relevant teams when SKU or costing information is incomplete or inaccurate.
      • Perform periodic data maintenance by updating or cancelling obsolete SKUs and/or purchase orders.
      • Ensure FOBs are accurate and final before PO issuance. Work with PD team to ensure this is done per calendar.
      • Create landed cost rules and apply to styles. Create and validate the standard costs.
    • Vendor Compliance
      • Utilize industry best practices to update and maintain the Spyder Vendor Compliance Manual.
      • Develop a vendor scorecard suite of reports to track and provide visibility to vendor compliance.
      • Issue and track vendor chargebacks due to non-compliance.
      • Provide a post-seasonal review of vendor performance along with recommendations for continuous improvement.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Requires a BA (or equivalent) in Business, Supply Chain or related field.
    • Minimum 1-3 years planning or inbound logistics experience.
    • Understanding of design and development process from beginning to end.
    • Strong analytical skills, ability to leverage systems and files to access data effectively.
    • Strong communication skills, clear and concise with the end result in mind.
    • Effective ability to manage to seasonal deadlines and work well in a team environment.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills required.
    • Experience with overseas vendors/factories.
    • Apparel or footwear industry experience preferred.
    • JDE and/or SAP preferred.
