Specific Responsibilities


In this position the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring product is delivered on-time and in-full to destination distribution center or customer. This involves active management of the seasonal time & action calendar (includes production calendar), collaborating with fabric mills, trim suppliers, and factories to book capacity and secure ex-factory dates that meet delivery. Inventory management, both raw materials and finished goods, are key responsibilities in this position - actively managing purchases to a strict open-to-buy and reducing material liabilities.


  • Supply Planning
    • Develop production time & action calendar in conjunction with merchandising, product development, and sales to ensure on-time delivery of product to market
    • Work closely with the Sales team to establish an open-to-buy budget at cost for each season, and provide tracking against budget
    • Work with vendors to validate production calendar and deliveries
    • Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to provide visibility to each stage of the inbound supply chain from Ex-Factory to receipt of goods.
    • Post-season analyze plan vs actuals to refine planning assumptions for next season to ensure all key tasks/milestones are accounted for
    • Identify opportunities for supply chain cost savings and/or lead time reductions
  • Materials Planning
    • Work closely with the Product Development and Operations team to develop and maintain a raw-material forecast that aligns with the Factory Capacity Plan, and the Go-to Market Calendar
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production calendar
    • Manage raw material liabilities and material inventories, identify opportunities to leverage existing raw materials before buying additional
    • Establish reporting to track raw material supplier performance against delivery targets
  • Purchase Order Management
    • Create and issue sample and bulk purchase orders for finished goods to each factory.
    • Manage end-to-end process for placement of purchase orders to receipt of goods into DC for all factories.
    • Manage production timelines to ensure on-time delivery
    • Create buy summaries for management approval
    • Manage air freight approval process
  • Inventory Management
    • Review supply and demand needs with Sales and Operations teams, and provide recommendations to mitigate delivery exceptions.
    • Report, track and validate airfreight expenditures against budget.
    • Alert relevant teams to delivery exceptions at each stage of the inbound process from factory to receipt at the distribution center.
  • Data Governance
    • Work closely with the Product team to establish an efficient process for setting up SKUs emphasizing accuracy of information before purchase orders are placed.
    • Maintain exception reporting to alert relevant teams when SKU or costing information is incomplete or inaccurate.
    • Perform periodic data maintenance by updating or cancelling obsolete SKUs and/or purchase orders.
    • Ensure FOBs are accurate and final before PO issuance. Work with PD team to ensure this is done per calendar.
    • Create landed cost rules and apply to styles. Create and validate the standard costs.
  • Vendor Compliance
    • Utilize industry best practices to update and maintain the Spyder Vendor Compliance Manual.
    • Develop a vendor scorecard suite of reports to track and provide visibility to vendor compliance.
    • Issue and track vendor chargebacks due to non-compliance.
    • Provide a post-seasonal review of vendor performance along with recommendations for continuous improvement.

Skills and Requirements

  • Requires a BA (or equivalent) in Business, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in supply planning, inventory management, and/or inbound logistics.
  • Understanding of design and development process from beginning to end is helpful.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to leverage systems access data and synthesize information effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, clear and concise with the end result in mind.
  • Ability to manage to seasonal deadlines and work well in a team environment.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills required.
  • Experience with overseas vendors/factories.
  • Apparel or footwear industry experience preferred.
  • SAP and JDE experience preferred.
