Specific Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with Production and Design on technical construction or fit issues
  • Advise reference and fit sample comments to vendors
  • Participate in fit sessions, making appropriate recommendations for fit and construction issues and track fitting progress for division
  • Assemble/supervise technical packages
  • Participate in style and fit approval process with cross-functional partners to meet all deadlines and address issues for resolution with Technical Designers
  • Communicate development and fit information to overseas vendors through written reports, sketches and/or pattern corrections
  • Assist in organizing and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines, partnering with Technical Designers as needed
  • Support Technical Design workload by creating fit schedules and maintaining track and measurement records
  • Adhere to established fit and construction standards by producing accurate specification packages including sketch details, base size specifications, grading, construction and packaging details

Skills and Requirements

Competencies

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with internal resources as well as overseas vendors
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of garment construction, fit standards and understanding of patternmaking, grading rules and specification packages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Minimum 3 – 5+ years Technical Design experience
  • Apparel related Associates or Bachelor Degree from a Fashion School preferred
  • Experience working with overseas factories and vendors

 

Computer Skills

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Experience with Web PDM
