Specific Responsibilities

The position Director of Logistics & Distribution reports directly to the Senior Director of Logistics & Distribution working closely with the Director of Logistics & Distribution Planning, Manager of Transportation and maintains alignment with the other Director of Logistics & Distribution.  This position will have significant responsibility leading and managing a specific group of GBG divisions, spanning multiple DC locations and 3PL partners across North America.

  • Leverages monthly actual versus budget/forecast reporting to maintain/reduce supply chain costs, identify continuous improvement opportunities and plans for improvement.
  • Develops and monitors 3 – 6 month rolling forecasts by division to identify potential risk points to cost and/or service levels by division and for the GBG network.
  • Monitors and drives improvement of the On Time shipping performance by division and ship point versus established SLA metrics.
  • Monitors and drives improvement of the Order and Unit Fill rate performance by division and ship point versus established SLA metrics.
  • Monitors and drives the improvement of inventory accuracy performance by division and ship point versus established SLA metrics.
  • Monitors and drives improvement regarding reduction and exposure of chargebacks by division.
  • Provides project support and management where applicable for their given group of divisions.
  • Develops strong working relationships within the Logistics & Distribution team to identify best practices across the GBG network.
  • Develops strong working relationships with Order Management Group, Inventory & Logistics Group, GBG Finance, HR, IT and division operations in NY to drive continuous improvement, effectively plan for volume fluctuations, improve communication and coordination through the physical and electronic flow of product and information.
  • Manages the relationship, performance and continuous improvement efforts of each ship point/3PL partner to ensure GBG is realizing the greatest value and quality of service.

Skills and Requirements

  • 8 - 12 years of progressive experience in retail/wholesale supply chain management distributing goods to Wal Mart, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Target to mid-tier specialty retailers.
  • 3 – 5 years of direct responsibility for a high volume/multi-client distribution center.
  • Experience working for a 3PL and/or managing 3PL relationships.
  • Experience negotiating warehouse service agreements is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks that required varying leadership and managerial skill sets.
  • Strong analytical and trend analysis skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, effective in all directions of the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and implementation of continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to turn large amounts of data into effective decision making tools.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field is preferred.
